Section 2: Satan does not have the ability to incarnate the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
A. words confirming the inability of Satan
In the major books dedicated to the Tradition of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, it was reported several authentic words, indicating that the demons have this extraordinary faculty, compared to humans, to manifest in dreams. This seems naturally irrational in the logic of Western oneiromancy. Unfortunately, critics of this theory, which leads to mistakes, are beyond the scope of this book[1].
Thus, according to Islamic principles, these demons can incarnate people known or unknown by the dreamer in a dream. The aim is intimidation, frightening, worries; obsessive fear and strengthening the temptation to evil and incitement to misguidance and debauchery.
However and fortunately for that matter, other sayings of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, indicate that even Satan, the supreme leader of demons and eternal enemy of human beings, can not in any case incarnate in a dream the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him!
Let’s quote only one version of these sayings, because they all confirm, but differently, this inability of Satan:
- « Whoever has seen me in a dream, it's really me. Satan cannot incarnate me»[2]
In the other versions, this inability is expressed as follows:
- « … Satan cannot represent me[3]… » ;
- « … Satan cannot represent me in the imagination[4]–of people- … » ;
- « … Satan cannot take my form[5]… » ;
- « … Satan cannot be conceived by people in my form[6] … ».
Consequently, the believer when he feels in a dream that he is in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he is sure that it is indeed him, peace and blessings be upon him. Indeed, it is he himself who said that « whoever has seen me in a dream, it's really me. Satan can’t incarnate me ».
What could be more to reassure a believer when it is the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him who said it himself? It is not a matter of intrusion or devilish suggestion.
B-Finality
Before moving to the next section, we are sure, dear readers that a tricky issue has already raised in your head and remained unresolved! It is the question below:
But why Allah Exalted be He , has deprived Satan, the cursed, from this ability to incarnate His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him in a dream?
The famous Imam Annawawi, has widely answered this question as follows [7] « Al Cadi said : : Allah the Almighty has exclusively granted this favor to His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, by banning Satan to incarnate him in a dream so that the latter cannot suggest in the dreams of believers bad ideas leading to errors. It is even more than a favor or kindness towards the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, it is an exclusive miracle! Thus, the believer cannot be confused, because he is prevented from evil suggestions of Satan, his cunning and his incitement to evil.
In addition, dreams made by the Messengers of Allah the Almighty and the prophets’ peace be upon them all; are protected against satanic intrusions».

Nevertheless, if the satanic manipulation is excluded for this kind of dreams, the believer doing such dream has to be very careful about the assimilation of the message conveyed in it. This is what we will see throughout the developments that will come after in this book.
